Every fan knows how San Diego Chargers lost the game for the
time around. How could that be? Is there someone to blame? The team turn to
31-13 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs last Thursday night.
Quarterback Duke of Edinburgh Rivers and linebacker Jarret
Johnson each played main roles because the Chargers scored 21 points within the
fourth quarter to tug from the pitiable Chiefs. Rivers finished 18 of 20 passes
for 220 yards with a combine of touchdown throws to Antonio Gates and Malcolm
Floyd. Johnson discharged Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel within the end zone
and made a slip-up that was recalled by Shaun Phillips for a point.
Rivers and Johnson were among the primary to come to defend the
coach.
“I think we want to win for him every week. We really do,”
Rivers said. “You play for a lot of things, some more obvious than others, but
we play for our coach.”
Rivers stated the culpability for their losing vein can’t
entirely put on the shoulders of their coach. The players are even as
answerable for the mistakes that led to losses on the road at New Orleans and
Cleveland and processing a 24-0 halftime lead at home counter to the Mile-High
City Broncos.
“In many of these cases [Turner] could have definitely
pointed it to us because — I know it, we all know it — we’ve made some terrible
plays that cost us some of these games. It had nothing to do with a coaching
decision or a coach. He’s had every chance to do that and he doesn’t do it. The
guys appreciate that and we know that,” Rivers same.
Johnson shared the mawkishness stating that with Turner over
willing to face behind them, the players aren’t progressing to bail on him.
“He deserves higher than what we’ve given him these last 3
weeks,” linebacker Jarret Johnson told Kevin Acee of the metropolis
Union-Tribune. “We’re progressing to stand behind him. We’re progressing to win
games for US as a team. We’re progressing to win games for Norv.
As tough as it maybe, the Chargers are back to .500 at 4-4
and find themselves simply a game back of the division-leading Broncos.
Chargers is 3-1 against the AFC West and remains significantly within the chase
for the division title. With the support of his players and therefore the
playoffs still handy, Turner looks to have no less than bought himself some
longer to pace the Chargers’ spin-offs.
